My name is Kjersti and I am the author of this blog. I hold an MA degree in Arabic, live in Oslo and split my time between work and the stable. I started this blog in 2010 as I embarked on the master’s programme at the University of Oslo. It has been a bumpy ride, but more than three years later I handed in my thesis and completed my studies. From the start, the blog focused mostly on what it is like to be a student in this field, and now that this era is over it seems appropriate to change the focus of the blog too. I will sometimes write about Arabic, sometimes about horses, sometimes about Arabian horses and sometimes about horses in Arabic.

The topic of my thesis was an excerpt from a 14th century Mamluk manuscript belonging to the furūsīya literature.
